Random PJO secondary characters headcanon

This is kinda long and I still have more, so don't say I didn't warn you

Ellis Wakefield and Mitchell are close friends, and no one knows exactly how it happened because they are so different that it's a shock to see them so casually together. Ellis once lost a bet and had to let Mitchell do eyeliner on him, the entire camp was obsessed with how good he looked.

Malcolm and Connor are both really smart, in differents ways. Malcolm can quote entire books and the periodic table off the top of his head, Connor knows different languages, forms of trade and knows many places. But they are the dumb x dumber couple when they're together

Damien is everywhere, somehow this boy is friend with almost everyone in the CHB. He is friends with Nico, Lou Ellen, Cecil and Will and they sometimes hang out together. Mitchell, Ellis and Clovis always call him out for whatever nonsense they are doing. He gets along very well with most of the Seven. Malcolm always goes to him for an opinion. Something about him being the son of the goddess of balance and justice really makes his presence kind of cool even when he in his silly day. He and Chiara are dating for almost one year before telling the others, no one is surprised

Jake Manson was Will first crush in the camp. He was also very close to Michael and had a crush on him. After the accident, he was paralyzed in half his body and the camp adapted several ramps for him to move with the wheelchair. His brothers created a mechanical endoskeleton that allows him to stand on his own, but sometimes it gets tired so they need to be careful with him. Jake hates how fragile he feels now, but he's learning to get back on track in his own way.

Clovis is so good at lying, he confuses even people who know the truth. Hypnos' children are very close to their father because Hyp visits them a lot in dreams. Clovis has the power to control dreams, which makes him a valuable ally in battle and on several occasions he has managed to confuse enemies, check plans and pass information to allies through dreams. He is also very gossipy and Mitchell knows all the things at camp because of Clovis. Are you having insomnia? Cabin 15 always has its doors open for any demigod.

Paolo is brazilian and he introduced a lot of brazilian culture to the camp. In June and July, we have a party in Brazil called "festa junina/julina" and Paolo made a point of presenting this to the camp, with various typical foods and colorful little flags around the camp, and brazilian songs around the camp fire. This became something so cool and the party was a sucess, especially for the younger ones, so Quiron started holding cultural parties at the camp so campers from different countries could express their culture.

Iris' cabin is ironically preferable to neutral colors and her children tend to be mistaken for Ares' children. They are well used to dark colors, as well as being on the battlefield, but they are super attentive to their mother and defend Iris whenever necessary. They also don't need to pay to use Iris's message because she has favorites and always expresses how much she loves her children.

The children of Venus, from the roman camp, took a while to get used to the children of Aphrodite. In the events with the two camps, they slowly became attached to their half siblings. The children of Venus taught many fighting techniques, and the children of Aphrodite reminded them how beauty is not fragility.

Ω PJO DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: 🥂HEBE: Goddess of Youth and Forgiveness 🙏

Author's note: Hello everyone! In lieu of posting the major gods demigod headcanons, here is the minor gods version!As usual these headcanons will contain what it's like being claimed and what it's like for the respective god and cabin, followed by a small story between you, the reader, and the respective demigod of that god. When you get claimed, things start to make sense. You smell fresh, your skin is bouncier and smoother than usual. A cup appears in your hand, in a form that is familiar to you and it is filled with your favourite comfort drink. You take a sip and it makes you feel right at home and brings you vigour to you. 

Your half-siblings explain that cup is magical and is also your cup-bearer. It never goes empty, at its optimal temperature and freshness, and you can share your drink like a fountain for others to drink at your own will. The catch is it is limited to only one, non-alcoholic drink, which is the same drink that appeared when you got claimed.

They say the drink tells a lot about the individual, however, there have been some questionable drinks such as one child of Hebe who had a goblet that had never ending pickle juice. At some point, they had to get the drink changed by going to Hebe if they could have a different drink because of reasons that led to pickle juice incidents. 

It’s not just a never-ending drink beverage. It’s actually a pretty effective weapon. You see its potential use when you had the insane idea to create a flood and took a shot when you saw a horde of monsters. Like turning on the hose all the way, the drink shot out of the chalice like a firefighter’s hose, the strength of it pushing you backwards from the force of it, all the while a flood of your drink flooded away the monsters. Percy Jackson came forwards and was confused yet laughing his stomach off when he came over because of-said flood. 

Being a child of Hebe makes sense when you look at yourself. There’s a sense of youthfulness to you. You’re either baby-faced and/or have been mistaken regularly for a younger age. It may be convenient at times while also being very annoying to deal with, but at least the slight annoyance is smoothed over the fact that you are a child of Hebe, and from what you hear about your godly parent, it just makes sense.

To a certain degree, some children of Hebe can magically turn themselves to look younger than their actual age, but they can’t look older than they actually are. However, don’t do this too much because there’s a chance you might not be able to reverse it in a timely manner. Don’t worry, according to Hebe, the max limit you’ll be able to turn young is at 8 years old. Anyways, enjoy getting those sweet children prices and discounts! 

Though you also have a ‘childish’ trait that is just a part of you; either something like baby fat, soft baby-like hair, a childish voice- once you’re claimed though, you learn how to control it on command. You have no idea how useful it is as a tactic to deceive your foes by using a child’s like voice to drop down their guard to only attack them right after. 

Being a child of Hebe also means children are naturally drawn to you. If you’re not a big fan of children, don’t worry about it. There’s some sort of effect that makes the children around you be very well-mannered. 

You can also make people look more youthful; for a more powerful child of Hebe, they can make others look actually young. You can make a good business in giving people good skincare, which is revolving clients from the Aphrodite cabin . Or make great bucks from the Hermes cabin alone to make the campers look young and open a whole lot of more pranks. 

In all seriousness, the children of Hebe are probably let out on more minor quests by Chiron with the Satyrs looking for young demigods. If you don’t like being in school, I get it but you have an important task of seeking any potentially endangered demigods and protecting them from monsters that threaten them.

There’s a strange thing among the children of Hebe that isn’t even conscious. You know how sometimes parents will keep a memento of their child when they were little? Like the locks of their hair when they were a baby or your baby teeth? Well, all children of Hebe still have it and have them on them. Like the children of Tyche, it acts as their lucky item or in this case, their totem, amulet or what have you. You have heard many stories of how your fellow half-siblings have to protect your lock of baby hair from others to preserve their youthfulness to actually fighting off the tooth fairies. Apparently, children of Hebe baby teeth are very prized among the tooth fairies-

Hebe sends you guys arcade games or just ordinary games, regularly for you all to play, as she manages an arcade called “Hebe Jeebies”. It’s a blast to the past and you’ll find yourself transported back to your childhood. 

Speaking of childhood, children of Hebe are masters of childhood joy and nostalgia. This ranges from being able to name and make toys from anyone’s childhood to saying nostalgic memes, references, and such. You are abhorred when younger demigods don’t know “What is Love” by Haddaway. Good thing you know Rick Astley will Never Gonna Give You Up. 

With Hebe also being worshipped closely with her mother, Hera, you and your siblings manage Hera’s cabin-temple as proxy. If anyone is going to survive Hera’s wrath or one of her bad days, it’s the children of Hebe. Your cabin is treated like a hero because of this. 

If you’re a fan of chicken, well good news for you! Well, if you like the animal chicken and not actually eating chicken as a meat. Hebe’s sacred animal is the chicken so it’s not unusual to have a chicken coop. 

Not many people know that Hebe is also considered the goddess of Forgiveness. Like Aphrodite and charmspeak, you can talk to people to forgive themselves, and in others as well. You don’t tell them that they have to forgive and forget, that they’re allowed to remember but forgive, but at some point the burden will become too much and you can let go. 

When you get claimed, you feel slightly rejuvenated and giddy that you haven’t felt in a very long time. You almost felt like a super young again, before you were still unaware of the world of the gods. You weren’t sure if it was just the fact that you got claimed or it was Hebe’s blessing. Your skin definitely felt tighter, plump, and soft like a baby. As you were inspecting your arm and how smooth it was, you also caught the whiff of something like warm milk and baby powder?

You saw something shimmer in the sky and you squinted. The light seemed to blend a bit before it took a form. You saw what looked like to be a chalice before it floated down into your hands. As soon you grasped it, it became heavier. You inspected its outside appearance before you could hear something like liquid? You raised the chalice up a bit to peer the interior and then out of nowhere, liquid began to spill out of it. You let out a gasp and sputtered, pulling back the chalice as it filled with the mysterious liquid. 

Upon instinct, your tongue darted out to lick off what was on your lips before you wiped off what you could with your arm. Then the taste finally hits you. 

You blinked in confusion, smacking your tongue against the root of your mouth to gather the taste again before realisation hit you. You looked at the chalice, the liquid seemingly familiar to you before you tentatively brought the rim to your lips. You tipped the chalice just so and took a careful sip. The liquid poured out of the chalice and it flowed in a familiar way to you before and you gasped in glee at the taste. 

It was your favourite drink of your favourite flavour. It was the right consistency, the right temperature, and its peak state that you liked so much. You looked at the chalice in awe. Inspecting it and wondered how you even had it, and it’s appearance before you heard shouts. 

You looked up and saw a large boy with dark skin with remarkable features. You looked at him in awe and you faintly noted the Brazilian flag around his person. He greeted you with a bright white smile as he waved, before he began to speak happily. 

“Ola! meu nome é Paolo! filho de Hebe e seu novo irmão. Prazer em conhecê-lo!” he introduced himself. 

You understood what he was saying completely fine and waved, introducing yourself in your own native language. Paolo’s eyes lit up as he understood you fine as well, before he began to talk to you eagerly. You wondered if the children of Hebe all spoke different languages, they still understood each other properly. If this was true, you wondered if it had to do something with the language of Youth, how babies seemingly talked and understood each other, even if they had differences, yet seemed to share a deep innate language with each other.  

“Come, come, let me show you around!”  said Paolo, gesturing to you to follow. He happily helped you grab your stuff from the Hermes cabin and led you to your new cabin. 

When you entered it and felt a strong wave of nostalgia hit you, even though this was your first time in this cabin. There was just something about it that seemed familiar to you however. Even the bed you were given reminded you of your childhood bed, if not its appearance but how it felt. The entire cabin had bits of nostalgia as you saw stuff from your own childhood, as if the cabin had catered areas of pieces of your time existing. 

As Paolo introduced you to the cabin and showed you around, you both shared your own drinks from your own chalices, Paolo introduced you to a soft drink called Guarana, while you let him taste your personalised drink from your own chalice. He showed you his chalice in the form of a different vessel and showed you how to change your own chalice shape into your preferred form; whether it could be a regular mug, a tiny teacup, a kiddie cup, or whatever you so desired with any appearance and design on it.  

The two of you continued to share drinks and talk, letting you get to know more about each other; comparing your own childhoods with each other, your cultures, and the similarities and differences between you.

I've tried to remember of what I've heard before and reviewing the Brazilians speaking to get a sense of casual speaking when I was watching the QSMP but hope it's bearable. Imagine being a Brazilian demigod and having to face these guys

for non-Brazilians, these are:

Matinta-Pereira(She has several names, this is just the most popular, she is a witch/curse/other things. In general, if you please her you can live, if not…);

Mula-sem-cabeça(This is interesting because it is a Christian curse, any woman who meets the condition can transform. just like a werewolf has no control and will attack everything in front of it );

Cuca(Whoever says she's a witch or a dragon, but she's also a bogeyman who likes to kidnap children);

Boitata(Also with different names. It is a protective spirit of the forests. I think it's cool, but it's really bad to face him since a simple look will drive you crazy.);

Cabra Cabriola (This is a disgrace and made my childhood sad, even more so because I lived on my grandmother's farm and she had goats. Basically, a bogeyman/demon/entity/etc, like almost all Brazilian legends, he mainly likes children and is very methodical. It is not an irrational being, quite the contrary, it usually deceives children by playing mind games and using its powers to pretend to be family members or security personnel.)

These are just a few, and some of the most popular. My personal headcanon is that Paolo went to NY because between facing the Greeks and anything that comes from Brazil… he decided to bet on the Greeks.

Look, I love The Sun and The Star as much as the next person; as someone who's written and consumed Solangelo media for years, but also loves comparing fics and headcanons to canon, the fact that I could get confirmation about whether headcanons of mine could possibly line up with the author's was amazing.

That being said, one super minor detail that has irked me since I bought the digital version of The Sword of Hades despite having a physical copy in The Demigod Files just so I could read the preview of the first chapter is what happened to the year rounders from the Hidden Oracle.

While we can't get tons of information on every minor character because the books would be miles long, but every character has their own story, even if we can't see it. Chiron says in TSATS that demigods probably want to see the world, especially after the few years they had, but if they've stayed at camp for a while, do they have a place to go? Do they have somewhere to live outside camp?

With this in thought, and more, I give you; my headcanons for what every single minor demigod at CHB in TOA is doing during the events of TSATS:

Billie Ng — Aeithales

Aeithales, for those who aren't great with place names, is the name of Philip McCaffrey's botany research facility that Meg refurbished for herself, the nymphs from the greenhouse, the Meliai, the children from Nero's army, Lu, and Herophile. It doesn't seem completely out there to believe that Meg invited her sibling(s) who don't have mortal families, whether because they're deceased or they don't get along, to live with her. Especially since Meg is working to restore Aeithales to it's former glory.

I hc she's about 14, so she'd probably attend the local high school with the older Nero adoptees.

Miranda Gardiner — College

While Miranda's age is not known, I personally believe she's around the same age as Percy. [I have no sound evidence for this, besides the fact that I believe Katie is the same age as Travis (because Tratie, a staple ship) and Travis attends college a year before Percy (as he is there in THO) and as Miranda is most probably Katie's second in command (because Miranda is said to be counselor in TLH instead of Katie, it can be assumed that Katie is a summer camper and therefore Miranda is in charge when she's not around. Like Malcolm for Annabeth or Sherman for Clarisse) I think she's a little bit younger than her, assuming that they were similar ages when they first attended camp.] which would put Miranda as a freshman in college during TSATS as Percy and Annabeth are freshman.

I personally believe Miranda would attend college, probably majoring in something agricultural or environmental.

Sherman Yang — College

Due to the fact that Sherman and Miranda are dating, I have come to the conclusion that Sherman is a similar age to Miranda. Now, whether he's attending the same school as his girlfriend or not, I'm not sure, but I feel in my bones that Sherman would go to college for kinesiology or exercise science.

Ellis Wakefield — High School in Arizona

Ellis was the hardest for no reason, because I hc he's younger than Sherman by a year or two, meaning he's not at college age yet (I do think he wants to attend college though), but rather a senior in high school, and then I thought, Clarisse would absolutely take in one of her siblings if she realizes that they'd be the only Ares kid at camp.

He lives in a small apartment just off campus of the University of Arizona with Clarisse and Chris, who are starting their sophomore year, and attends a local high school near by.

I have no proof for this, but I feel in my heart that he plays baseball and Clarisse and Chris go to every game, and Clarisse almost gets kicked out multiple times for yelling at the umpire. Also, Sherman comes every so often, and that's when things get really crazy and he and Clarisse do, in fact, get kicked out, leaving a really awkward Chris alone in the stands.

Malcolm Pace — SODNYC

Following in his older sister's footsteps, I hc that Malcolm goes to the School of Design Annabeth attends in COTG and WOTTG for his senior year. I personally hc he's a year younger than Annabeth, which would put him at like 17, so he'd live in the dorms there for a year before moving to a college to study architecture (since battle strategy isn't a major, lol)

Harley — Waystation

I have talked about this quite a bit, both on here and on ao3 through my fics, but Harley's adopted by Jo and Emmie and him and Georgina are best friends.

Honestly, Harley's the main reason I've become obsessed with finding out where every minor character is, because if any demigod deserves a fleshed out backstory, it's Harley.

He's eight in THO. Eight! And he's already been at camp for over a year since he's also in TLH. And because TLH mentions no new Hephaestus campers before Leo have arrived in a hot minute because of the curse, we can infer he's been at camp for at minimum, a year and a half by TOA, which means he arrived at, maximum, seven (or seven and a half if he turns 9 right after Apollo leaves camp). And the first series drills it in our head that Annabeth is an anomaly for coming to camp so young, so Harley, not only being a camper, but a year rounder, probably means he doesn't have a mortal family. (I wrote my own version of Harley's backstory, with this hc on ao3, called Wanting to Feel Safe) so yeah! Also, Harley and Leo are very close (see, the entirty of THO) so when Leo finds a family willing to take him in, his little brother isn't too far behind.

Harley's in third grade, is a math wiz, but struggles with spelling. He's also in the same class as Georgie.

Nyssa Barrara — Waystation

You think Leo's leaving Nyssa behind while taking Harley? Think again. I personally believe Nyssa's probably a year or two younger than Leo, which would put her at around her sophomore or junior year of high school, and she probably attends the same school as Leo and Calypso.

Valentina Diaz — BAG

For those who aren't The Kane Chronicles fans (go read them, they're amazing) Drew and Lacy both make an appearance as they attend Brooklyn Academy for the Gifted with Sadie Kane. I like to think that Val joins her sisters at the school studying fashion history (as she shows an interest in it in CHB Confidentials) (Lacy studies fashion design and Drew theater, source: me) and that she stays with Lacy and her father so she can attend school. She still goes to visit camp during holidays along with Lacy and Drew (as we see them at camp during winter break in TLH).

The reason she's not at BAG in TOA with them is because she found out she was a demigod only right after the war and therefore didn't have time to fill out the application to attend.

Connor Stoll — College

Connor and Travis are reunited in college once more! Yay!

I think Connor's studying linguistics, which Travis is studying business administration (though he's a sophomore already)

Cecil Markowitz — hanging with Lou Ellen Blackstone

As I hc Cecil being around the same age as Will (who's 15/16), he's not old enough to go away to college, or begin adulting like some of the others, so why not stay with his best friend?

They send Will letters in the mail all the time because Will, Cecil, & Lou friend group supremecy.

I also hc that Cecil is the boy that Hermes mentions from Wisconsin that Hermes has Percy promise to bring to camp, though that doesn't really affect where he's ending up.

Alice Miyazawa — her family

I hc that Alice's relationship with her family is strained because of her being more of a "troubled" kid (I also hc she has kleptomania) so that's why she's at camp year round in THO.

So, I think she's going to try with her family again.

Also, I hc that Alice (and Julia) are the two girls from Los Angelos that Hermes mentions to Percy in TLO so her family's in California.

Julia Feingold — with Alice's family

See previous note about Alice and Julia being the two girls from L.A.

Alice wouldn't try with her family again if Julia wasn't there, because they've been attached at the hip since they met at juvie in L.A. as kids, so Julia goes with her.

Damien White — Working

Chiara is stated to be about 18, and her and Damien are probably in a relationship, so it's not too off base to believe that Damien is probably around 17 or 18.

I don't think Damien decides to go to college (maybe later but I doubt it), so he decides to just go and join the job force as he's legally an adult now. What job? I dunno. He's in a union though, I can feel it in my bones.

Also, a little off topic but Apollo saying he didn't know if he wanted to steal Chiara from Damien or Damien from Chiara lives rent free in my head.

Holly Victor— Boarding School

Holly and Laurel are the only two who Chiron had a hand in them not being year rounders, because they're a lot. He's been training for thousands of years, he needs a break too.

So, I hc that Chiron enrolled them in a boarding school so they could quench that competitive spirit of theirs.

I think they're about 13 or 14, so they're either in eighth grade or a freshman in high school.

Laurel Victor — Boarding School

But also, I think Holly and Laurel joined every single sports team they could do, and Nike showed up to watch one of their games and got thrown out for trying to fight the ref on a bad call.

Paolo Montes — College in Brazil

While Rick hasn't confirmed this, I am quite positive that Paolo was on summer break when THO takes place, and that's why he's not mentioned in TON and TSATS, because he's back in Brazil.

I hc him around 18, so he's probably in his first year of college.

Chiara Benvenuti — College

Chiara's the only one we get an exact age for—around 18—so it makes sense for her to have left camp.

I think she's studying something to do with Lit, though whether English or Italian, I'm not sure. It's just a gut feeling. And is she somewhere near Damien? Well that's also up in the air.

So, that's everyone at camp in THO and what I think they're doing. I would love it if Rick Riordan confirmed or denied these in TSATS sequel, but I have the habit of convincing myself something is so obvious and will be mentioned in the book, and then it never is, so I'm not hopeful for my own sanity.

Percy Jackson's fridge horror

What gets to me about Percy Jackson and the sequel series is that there's so much fridge horror in it.

For those of you who don't know, fridge horror is something that seemingly innocent but has very disturbing undertones.

Like the climbing walls in CHB. What do you MEAN that they clash together, hurting the campers who haven't reached the top, and that there's also fucking lava which BURNS THE CAMPERS, NO LESS. And that Chiron allows it?

AND THAT HE FUCKING INSTALLED IT?

And there's lava below? Do you know how serious fucking lava burns are? They're horrible. Campers might have even died before.

And there's a full lava and earthquake mode too, and boulders roll down on the campers, which is pretty serious and can make for some fatal injuries. Jesus, Rick, what the hell were you thinking?

I wonder if Luke saw the horror of this and if this was a small part that motivated him to join Kronos. I really do wonder.

And in ToA, the Three Legged Death Race?

Chiron wants to reward who come back..........alive. Because it's so dangerous that it has fucking exploding Chainsaw Frisbees and iron orbs falling from the ceiling. And apparently it's so dangerous that you can find fucking Python in there too. Oh hey Python, wazzup old mate-AAAAAAHHHHHHH-gets swallowed and painfully digested.

And this is all because a MILLENIA OLD TUTOR WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER AND A FUCKING GOD WHO'S SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THESE CHILDREN couldn't say no to a fucking eight year old who came up with the terribly dangerous and impractical idea for this race. An eight year old, folks.

Okay, three things about Paolo Montes that are VERY BRAZILIAN 🇧🇷

1- He knows english but only speaks portuguese: Our language is very rich in metaphors and sometimes expressing our feelings in english is not enough, ex: "Get the horse out of the rain", means "stop doing that"

Our list of swear words is more extensive too and also includes a lot of metaphors 😚 so for him and many others in this country it is uncomfortable to change

2- Good luck kiss: When Apollo goes to look for his children, Paolo gives him a good luck kiss on the cheek

Brazilians in general are very affectionate, especially those who live in the north of the country. Kisses and hugs are not just reserved for close friends but also the group you belong to

Paolo probably felt that he and Apollo were in the same group and began to be affectionately protective of him

This is very real especially when you are betting on something. Many here believe that the flag brings good things because it represents the country's riches: green from the Amazon, yellow from abundance, blue from the clear sky and waters, and white from peace
